This weeks card from The Spacious Tarot reminds us that it’s okay to take a pause when we need to.
For some people “lockdown” has been a stressful, full on, and scary time. If you have been one of the people keeping essential services functioning for the benefit of everyone else, then by now you are probably feeling exhausted and depleted of energy. This card is saying that now is the time to lay down your sword and take some much needed respite. Even if it’s not possible to take time off to rest and recuperate, then it might be possible to at least take some timeout to come back to centre and recharge your batteries.
It is a cliche, but even small things can help to ground and calm. Perhaps you could make yourself a beautiful, nourishing meal, and sit down, uninterrupted, to fully appreciate and enjoy it.
Soaking in an indulgent bath, with an aromatic bath oil to soothe and unwind tense and knotted muscles can calm body and soul, and help to restore a sense of well-being.
Or simply giving yourself time to connect with nature and green spaces can be super restorative and relaxing.
I hope that this week you can find a few minutes to come back to yourself, look up at the sky and feel a sense of calm and wellbeing. You so deserve it.
This week take some time out to just ‘be’. Sometimes we forget we are human beings, and act more like human ‘doings’ as we rush around trying to cross things off our ever increasing to do list.
So, over the coming week, try and make life a little easier on yourself…..scratch anything that isn’t strictly necessary, and give yourself five minutes out of your busy day to close your eyes, breathe deeply, and get in touch with your inner voice. It may be that taking a brief timeout may inspire you with fresh insight or new creative ideas which will help make the rest of your week more productive.

This week is a good time to take some time out to mull over your options. Don’t feel pressured to jump right into a particular course of action. This card shows that you have time to seek your own inner guidance and wisdom on any matter that is troubling you, and in fact it may actually be beneficial to hit pause before reaching a final decision. You may even find that by doing nothing a problem miraculously solves itself!
This week I am using the Tarot of the Hidden Realm for the weekly reading, and the card I have drawn is the Four of Swords.
This card describes a situation I am sure we have all been in, when confusion and entanglement in our thoughts threatens to overwhelm us. It seems that the more we try to apply logic and rational thought to a problem the deeper in the mire we sink. When your mind is too busy and troubled, thoughts become muddled like a cat playing with a ball of yarn….the more you turn the thoughts round and round your mind, the tighter and more unyielding the knots become.
So, the solution to this situation is to Stop. Breathe. Quiet your mind. Do nothing!
Wait until the fog clears and clarity arrives. The best way to achieve this sense of calm is via meditation and reflection.
In this card the blue butterflies symbolise transformation and metamorphosis. The colour blue represents calm, serenity, clarity, communication and gentleness. Invite divine peace and inspiration to bring clarity, far sightedness, and uncover solutions to problems which seemed insurmountable. Trust yourself and your own judgement, and this will help you to see the bigger picture.
The ivy entwined around the girls hair symbolises determination, strength and tenacity ~ the ability to flourish and grow, and the faith to know that we can overcome any difficulties and hardships we have to deal with by going within and trusting our innate inner wisdom.
There’s no need to do anything today….just rest in the knowledge that everything is happening perfectly. Sometimes it is tempting to rail against the Universe when we are desperate for something to happen or come to fruition in our life. However, we cannot fight against the cosmic agenda and things come to pass in their own time. So, sit tight and stay connected to your own inner light. That’s all you have to do!
Take the path of least resistance today. Often it’s not possible to avoid responsibilities, but perhaps we can reduce the load and prioritise only the most important tasks? Tomorrow is another day, and no doubt the items we rescheduled will still be waiting for us, but hopefully we will have renewed energy to tackle them.
Try and have a bit of quiet time today to contemplate and ponder. Remember that the answers are within and the Sun quite literally shines out of you. Stay positive and full of joy as those warming rays emanate from you and bathe everyone you come into contact with in your rosy glow.
Rest and relaxation is the order of the day. Soon it will be back into the fray, but for now there is nothing pressing to do and nowhere you need to be. Muse, meditate and contemplate, or simply get an early night. You’ll feel better for it.
This is the second time this card has come up this week! It obviously has a pertinent message to impart. This time the symbol which grabs my attention is the beautiful golden sun emanating from the Third Eye area. This tells me that today it is vitally important to realise that all the answers and wisdom we need are already within us. All we need to do is quieten down our conscious mind so that we can access our innate intuition and gut feelings! Easier said than done in the busyness of day to day life where our existence is ruled by deadlines, pressure and constant striving to achieve. So today take just ten minutes to come back to yourself by closing your eyes, taking a few deep breaths and reconnecting with the wisdom of your heart. It might be the best thing you do today!
