The Wild Unknown Tarot – The Devil

This can be a scary looking card in some tarot decks, but really isn’t anything to be afraid of. It often points to a situation where we have become entrapped in a situation of our own making, usually a behaviour pattern or way of thinking, which is having negative repercussions for us.

It can indicate addictive patterns which are keeping us enslaved to another person, a substance or a negative, self defeating pattern. In order to break free from whatever is holding us back, we will need to confront our shadow side and work through the personal issues we uncover there. There is no quick fix to take us out of the forest and back into the light….the only way is “through”.

We must not despair though as through the darkness of the trees we can see the light of the sun shining. It gives hope that if we do the inner work, and get professional help with this if necessary, we can emerge into a new place of hope and positivity, having conquered our inner demons.

The Gaian Tarot – The Star

This weeks card from The Gaian Tarot is The Star. As this is a Major Arcana card it’s influence may be felt beyond just this week, as these cards tend to talk about larger, ongoing trends.

The Star is an extremely positive card which symbolises new beginnings and good fortune. It pictures a woman wearing a white dress symbolising purity, renewal and healing, gazing into a pool of water where a myriad of stars are reflected, which offer a sense of hope, promise and magic.

The bird in the foreground is a Kingfisher, a legendary bird associated with the “halcyon days”, a time of peace and plenty.

The first thing which comes to mind for me when I look at this card is to “wish upon a star” with it’s obvious connotations of hope, renewal and inspiration. When we gaze in awe at the night sky, dotted with millions of stars, or we are lucky enough to witness a shooting star streaming across the velvety black heavens, we are reminded of the wonder of the Universe and our intrinsic connection to it.

In these tumultuous times, when everything seems so uncertain, and we may be feeling a sense of hopelessness and despondency, The Star is a welcome sight. It brings with it a sense of hope, inspiration and wonder and invites us to deeply feel our connection to Source.

If we find that dark clouds are descending, and a sense of hopelessness is setting in as we struggle to navigate these difficult times, we can invoke the spirit and energy of The Star and know that “this too will pass” and better times are coming.

Gaian Tarot – Five of Air

This weeks card is the Five of Air from the Gaian Tarot. The suit of air in tarot is all about the mental realm, so relates to communication, the mind, truth, clarity, critical thinking and the intellect.

In this card we can see that there appears to be a conflict, and a lot of argumentative energy. In the guidebook for the Gaian Tarot it says that this species of eagle was almost extinct at one time, but now they are back with a vengeance and actually fighting for territory. This often results in conflicts which sometimes end up in a fight to the death.

At the moment, in the world at large, there is much debate about the correct way to handle the situation we all find ourselves in. Online, particularly on social media, these conflicts can get quite nasty and destructive, and this can result in negative vibes and a general lowering of consciousness.

This card seems to be advising that it is best to limit our time on these kinds of platforms. It is so easy to get drawn into conflicts, and before we know it we have squandered precious time, and end up feeling even more anxious and stressed about the world.

Of course we all want to keep informed about what is going on in the world, but maybe now is the time to choose our sources of information carefully, and avoid the more sensationalist and propaganda driven news outlets. Now is the time to base our enquiries on actual facts and empirical information, and seek out platforms that strive to report as honestly and transparently as possible. There is so much misinformation and fake news out there, but the suit of air (or swords) advises us to be discriminating about where we obtain the information we rely on.

The Fountain Tarot – Three of Coins

The Three of Coins from The Fountain Tarot is a reminder that help is at hand!

As you can see, the central character in this card is holding the weight of the world on his shoulders. If you look carefully though, in the top corners there are the arms of two other people helping to lighten the load.

This week it would be useful to think about what we bring to the table, in terms of our strengths and skill set, and to consider where it would be appropriate to collaborate with others to augment our abilities where required.

We can achieve so much more when we pool our resources with others. Sometimes, a feat which would be impossible to pull off entirely by ourselves, is made doable when we join forces with others who are able to dovetail with our skill sets. The synergy of a team of people, all working towards the same end, can create results far more spectacular than anything we could manage alone.

So, this week think about where you can enlist the help of others to make big things happen!

The Gaian Tarot – Six of Fire

This weeks card is the Six of Fire from The Gaian Tarot.

This card shows a group of people who have come together to make music and dance. The woman at the centre of the group is fired up with passion and inspiration. She looks almost ecstatic, as if she is dancing like no one is watching, and totally moving to the beat of her own drum.

Although we are not able to meet up in groups at the moment, we can totally still use the power of music, rhythm and movement to fire up our own body, mind and soul. Music and dance are amazing ways to raise our vibration and energy levels, and to assist our physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, something we all need during these trying times.

If you are struggling to find the motivation and energy to deal positively with the challenges we are currently facing, then music and movement might be the perfect antidote? Music has such amazing powers to uplift, energise and motivate, so fire up your favourite tunes…the ones that give your mood a positive, energising boost, and maybe even dance around your living room “like no one is watching”.

The Spacious Tarot – Nine of Wands

This week’s card is The Nine of Wands from The Spacious Tarot. The Nine’s are all about nearing the end of a cycle, before the culmination and new beginning symbolised by the Ten’s.

In the Nine of Wands we may feel exhausted and depleted with the challenges we have faced. It has been a long arduous path and we may be on the verge of giving up and throwing in the towel.

In this card, we see a rose at the end of a long path, where there have been many deviations, crossroads and challenges. We have been knocked off course many times, and travelled down dead ends, and convoluted paths, only to find that we need to retrace our steps to get back on the right road.

However, the rose symbolises love, peace, beauty and unity, and we are so nearly there now. If we just keep going, even when we feel totally depleted and as if we have no strength left, then we will finally reach this destination we are striving for, and all our struggles and the challenging situations we have faced will be worthwhile.

The Spacious Tarot – Explorer of Cups

This weeks card, from The Spacious Tarot is the Explorer (or Knight) of Cups.

The suit of Cups in the tarot is all about our emotions, feelings and intuition. Pictured in the card is a fish diving down, deep below the surface of the ocean, into the murky depths. The fish is swimming towards a cup on the sea bed. We cannot see what, if anything is contained within the cup, as this is a mysterious and subtle realm, full of strong undercurrents, and strange creatures.

Because of the Cup’s association with the inner realms of intuition and the subconscious, this week it will be very useful to pay attention to any vivid dreams. Remember that when interpreting dreams each symbol we explore is a facet of ourselves. Even when other people appear in our dreams, it is usually to convey a message to us about how we might better deal with a situation in our waking consciousness.

Other modalities which also harness the power of the unconsciousness, such as meditation, guided journeys and journaling, would also be great to disentangle the symbols presented to us, and figure out how to best understand them to navigate our path through life.

With the chaos and anxiety which a lot of us are facing when we view the outside world, the ability to stay grounded in our own power and secure centre becomes even more imperative. Our intuition speaks to us, whispering it’s truth, and keeping us on track and centred in our own truth and knowing about the nature of reality.

The Spacious Tarot – Four of Pentacles

The Four of Pentacles is a card about stability, structure and security in the material world. The “pentacles” portrayed in this card, from The Spacious Tarot, are surrounded by dangerous looking spikes which protect them.

This week, make sure you protect yourself and your assets. At this time it is best to do your research and ensure that any financial or investment opportunities are rock solid. This is not a time to get involved with risky get rich quick schemes, or with questionable investments which may entice with claims of super sized returns. Make sure you get sound financial advice from a trusted advisor before you sign on the dotted line.

In some circumstances the Four of Pentacles can manifest as possessiveness and greed. If we are insecure, and scared of not having “enough”, this can translate into holding on too tight to material “things” and possessions. Only we really know if we are becoming too attached to stuff because of a need to remain in control and safe in an uncertain world. If this is the case, try to gently release things which are keeping you trapped, and travel through life with more lightness and ease. Remember that the more we hold on to “stuff”, the more we block the flow of abundance and risk damning the circulation of blessings entering our lives.

Until next time,

The Spacious Tarot – Elder of Swords

This weeks card is the Elder of Swords from The Spacious Tarot, known as the King of Swords in most tarot decks.

This card is all about truth, fairness and justice. It is examining the facts with forensic focus, rather than being swept away on a tide of emotive language and manipulation.

This week, don’t allow yourself to be swayed by anything that isn’t backed up by actual facts and figures, or scientific study. It is easy to be controlled and manipulated when we are barraged by information which is skewed to support a certain narrative.

This card, with it’s upright sword, and the crow illuminated by the sun, is a promise that the truth will out. Crows are known to be very intelligent birds, who noisily communicate with a large vocabulary of different calls. This week, listen to the voices which may be challenging the official narrative, but nevertheless may be speaking the truth.

Until next week,

Caro Tarot💛
