This weeks card, from The Fountain Tarot, is the Six of Cups. I asked for inspiration to help us to continue to weather the ups and downs of isolation and social distancing, which I think many of us are finding increasingly difficult as the weeks go on.
This card speaks of nostalgia and warm feelings of times gone by, and maybe now is the perfect moment to invoke these precious memories? We are grateful for the wonderful digital technologies which are helping us to stay connected to our loved ones, far and wide, in these unprecedented times, but maybe we could go old school, and fish out our analogue memory keepers too? This would be a great moment to leaf through photo albums and scrapbooks of happy times from years gone by, to remember our ancestors and reconnect the threads of our lives over the span of years and history.
Maybe, instead of electronic means of keeping in touch, we could write a letter or postcard to a loved one, or send a small but meaningful gift?
Another way of invoking memories of the past is through our sense of taste and smell. Perhaps there is a particular meal or food which is evocative of years gone by, which we could prepare now to transport us back to another place and time?
Finally, what about the power which music has to transport us back in time? For those of us lucky enough to still have vinyl and cassettes from another era, and the equipment to play them, what about an evening of letting music trigger memories of people and places long forgotten in the mists of time?
I hope that you are all coping with these unprecedented times, and that these suggestions help you to stay connected with your loved ones, if not physically, then at least in memory and spirit.
Until next time,
This week I’m using The Fountain Tarot, and I asked for guidance on the best way to navigate these strange times we find ourselves in.
The card which I pulled is the King of Cups, which is a watery card linked to the realm of the subconscious mind and emotions. I feel as if this card is instructing us to delve deeply into this interior, mysterious world at this time, as there is insight, inspiration and gold to be mined.
We can do this by making sure we are getting enough sleep, to allow our consciousness to process and access the deeper wisdom which resides within. This would be a good time to take heed of our dreams and glean important information to guide us on our path.
Working with tarot and oracle cards will also be a good use of our time during this lockdown. Being guided by intuition and our inner voice will keep us connected to what is the right course of action at this time.
Journaling is another tool which I feel will be very useful at this time to help us access our deeper wisdom which may not always be apparent on the surface. By writing regularly we can excavate deeper more profound truths and use this insight to guide our journey.
By using these intuitively inspired techniques to get in touch with our Higher Selves we will always be guided to the next steps to take. In this way we can become more like the King of Cups. In the Fountain tarot this King looks very chilled out and at ease with himself. He is oriented towards the future, sitting in his chair, balancing a cup of coffee on his knee, whilst looking confidently ahead whilst turbulent waves crash around him. He is unperturbed, as he knows that he can trust himself to navigate the best path through life.
The King of Swords personality is the master communicator. Rational and analytical, this person has integrity, justice and fairness at the top of their agenda. They tend to see things as being black or white, right or wrong, with no room for shades of grey. They are experts at planning a strategy for getting from A to B, and are able to accurately anticipate and overcome all obstacles in their path.
This week run everything through the rational and truth seeking lens of the King of Swords to navigate the best course through life.
