The Fool often appears when a new adventure beckons. In The Spacious Tarot it is quite an unusual card as it doesn’t have any kind of human or animal representation of the Fool. In some ways this frees our imagination to be completely unfettered when visualising our next steps, and it allows us to use this card in a technique called Pathworking.
This is a simple process where we enter a meditative state and then imagine that we are actually stepping into the scene on the card. We can then explore the card whilst in a relaxed state, and notice any symbols, words, associations etc which arise.
As the Fool card often speaks of new beginnings, adventures and journeys, and taking a leap of faith, perhaps we could use the summit of the mountain depicted in this card, as a metaphor for a jumping off point? If we, in our imagination, go to the edge, and peer over the precipice, what do we see below? Does this give us any guidance about our direction and next steps in life?
