wild {unknown} friday

The randomly selected card for the upcoming week is the Mother of Wands from The Wild Unknown deck.
This card could relate to an actual person taking centre stage in your life this week; or equally it may be describing you, or alternatively the qualities and energy you need to bring to the table to get the best results from events and situations this week.
So, the first thing which springs to mind when I look at this card is how fiercely protective the mother snake appears as she closely guards the nest containing her eggs. Her body is coiled all around them ensuring that predators will have a hard time penetrating her defences. Snakes can also strike in a millisecond if threatened and will stand their ground in a conflict and bravely face an enemy. For these reasons this character is dangerous when provoked and certainly not the kind of person you want to get on the wrong side of!
Individuals with a strong connection to snake energy can often be extremely charming, mystifying and charismatic. Although they love, and seek out warmth and light, and often positively crave attention, fame or recognition, they may also be difficult to get to know emotionally and carefully control their public persona and the face they show to the world. They can be extremely loyal and generous to those who are admitted to their inner sanctum, but only after you have proved to them that you are worthy of their trust.
Because of the association with transformation which snakes hold by the shedding of their skin, it could also indicate a person who has survived much trauma in their life and through this become extremely strong and resilient. People who identify with the symbolism of the snake may be stubborn and fiercely independent. They have had to walk their own path so do not take kindly to attempts to control or manipulate and will go their own way no matter what. They can be the most loyal, protective person you could ever wish to meet, or on the other side of the coin if you cross them you could find yourself being swallowed whole for breakfast!

This weeks randomly drawn card is the Three of Pentacles from The Wild Unknown Tarot. Pentacles talk of earthly endeavours and so for me, this card tells of a challenging and arduous task where teamwork and collaboration will be imperative to getting the job done.Although the mountain to be scaled looks dark and foreboding, and positively treacherous in places, the energy of the three pentacles working together indicates that they are up to the task.

The pentacles are red, blue and yellow…..the primary colours out of which all other hues are created. Red represents passion, action and energy; blue symbolises communication and emotion; yellow signifies the mind, imagination and inspiration. All these aspects are essential, and part and parcel of the solidarity and unity of working together on a project.

The primary colours also signify that there is a full spectrum of skills, qualities, abilities and talents which have been brought to the table by the team collaborating to get this job done. It is important to use the skill sets of the individuals involved for the benefit of the whole team.

To sum up then, the road ahead may be rocky and challenging in places and it will be hard to pull off. However everything required is available and the sense of achievement in the end will be so worth it.

This weeks randomly selected card is the Wheel of Fortune, which is a mystical, mysterious card. It speaks of fate, chance and destiny and the weaving of the intricate tapestry of life.
Often the twists and turns of fate can feel random and arbitrary. But what if there is inherent meaning in everything, and interconnection between the complex patterns woven into the Universe? Just because these relationships are too tangled to unpick doesn’t mean that they don’t exist and give a deeper meaning to our existence.
Life is a delicate balance and we all experience joy and pain as an integral part of our journey. It is vital to embody the wisdom of the owl and know that all is in constant flux. The trick is to try and achieve balance and inner harmony no matter what is happening in our lives. We judge things as good or bad, but how do we really know until further down the road? The Wheel of Fortune expresses the truth that everything happens for a reason, and there is always a lesson to be learned from our experiences. There is nothing to fear, as depicted by the bright stars twinkling in the night sky. All we can do is embrace it all and use our intuition (symbolised by the owl and the crescent moon) to navigate any stormy waters. It won’t see us go wrong.
The Wheel of Fortune can indicate a ‘stuck’ energy where we need to be reminded that positivity moves us forward whereas negativity keeps us tangled and stuck. We must keep in mind when we are feeling trapped and stuck that the wheel is constantly turning. Change is always happening and things will get better. It is only a matter of time until the daytime comes back around again as everything is cyclical.
The archetype of this card puts me in mind of the quotation
“Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

This weeks card is the Hierophant. It’s not one that usually resonates with me, but I find this interpretation from The Wild Unknown to be a very beautiful image. Often this card has strong associations with organised religion and tradition and if you’re not particularly religious it can be difficult to relate to.
This card however has an image of a crow which speaks to me of magic, wisdom, intuition and the voice of experience. The crow is tweeting so it obviously has something important to relay to us. It could be quite literal; maybe we will read something on Twitter which has a significant message for us this week! I think it’s important to remember with this card that the relevant information is likely to come from an outside source. It could be a mentor, counsellor or teacher, or just as likely it may be a snippet of conversation we overhear, the lyrics of a song on the radio or something we read on a blog at just the right moment.
The crow grasps a large key in her claws which suggests that something vital is about to be unlocked……something of great value which allows you to access new information that has previously been under metaphorical “lock and key”. The penny is about to drop and things fall into place.
The bolt of lightening underlines the fact that this message is likely to be received like a “bolt from the blue” when you least expect it. It is illumination that suddenly becomes available to you in a classic “light bulb” or “ah ha” moment.
So make sure you are alert to all incoming information this week, whatever it’s source. There may be gold and jewels mixed in with the everyday dross!
